1000 for 100 update and some aliens
Another two days, another two thousand words in my 1000 words a day for 100 days project. Maybe I need an acronym. Anyway, that’s seven days, one week in, 7% project complete. I’m doing research during scraps of time during the day and long-hand noodling with thoughts, dialogue bits, scene ideas while I eat or wait in the car (or, more dangerously, while driving). In other words, I’m getting myself all prepped so that the second I sit down to write, those next 1000 words come out pretty easily. It usually takes about an hour, maybe a bit more. So far this has been fun, like running a race, a long race, but it’s cool how setting challenging, maybe (probably) impossible goals can be inspiring enough to get things cranking.
Did I mention that I’m reading books of case studies of people who believe they have been abducted by aliens? Suddenly there is a ton of stuff on tv, too, as if schedulers everywhere knew I’d be interested: the History Channel has UFO documentary shows going and National Geographic has archeological shows about how aliens built the pyramids or whatever, I’m telling you, it’s everywhere I look right now. Aliens Are (maybe) Among Us! At least, they are in my novel. Sort of. Anyway, aliens are taking a lot of my daily brain space in order to keep cranking out those 1000 words a day.
In other writing-related news, I’m dying waiting to hear from my cover artist for Raine. She’s starting now or very soon, gah, I’m so nervous, it’s probably silly of me, but still. What if I hate it? My copy-editor is all but done, so we’re just waiting on that cover to put it all together and go live, as in, publish, wow. Maybe April 1! I’m so excited and nervous.
I’ve got another writer interview ready to roll, I’ll post that later today or tomorrow.
And how is your day?

"Dusi's Wings" April, 2003. . . .
"One thing fantasy can do for us is to give shape to the mysterious in the world; another is to make emotional yearning concrete. The early sections of "Dusi's Wings" do just that...there was a strong grasping towards the spiritual in fantasy here that was very promising, and I look forward to reading more by Lassiter." --review, Tangent Online.tags
