waiting for berries…
…is hard.
Law of Life #72: the person willing to eat the sourest fruit gets first pick. In this case, that would be Sophie who has been eating sour berries for days and days, wishing they were ripe, her face screwed up against the tart, saying “No, really, it’s sweet! Really!”
But they aren’t. Not quite yet.
We’ve got blueberries that aren’t blue,
blackberries that aren’t black,
and raspberries that aren’t purple-pink.
If Sophie can keep from eating them all before they get ripe, we’ll have a smorgasbord of berries in another week or so.
Big if.

"Dusi's Wings" April, 2003. . . .
"One thing fantasy can do for us is to give shape to the mysterious in the world; another is to make emotional yearning concrete. The early sections of "Dusi's Wings" do just that...there was a strong grasping towards the spiritual in fantasy here that was very promising, and I look forward to reading more by Lassiter." --review, Tangent Online.twitterage
