Don't give up coffee. If you're drinking eight cups a day, maybe cut back to one or two, but coffee doesn't cause tinnitus. Many people report that their tinnitus is worse (i.e., they perceive it more -- in reality it's the same) when they're under stress. Coffee can make you nervous and more vulnerable to stress. As a result it can make your tinnitus seem worse. Just moderate your caffeine intake. Tormenting yourself by giving up relatively harmless vices won't help matters. Also, check out the American Tinnitus Association: ata.org. They do good work.

Green tea. Much less caffeine, but still some, plus antioxidant goodness. My favorite is a delicate blend by Tazo called China Green Tips. As the name implies, the tea is made from just the freshest growing tips of the tea plant. Add lemon, which increases the accessibility of the antioxidants to your system, and you have a warm, comforting beverage. Better than going cold turky, yes?
