conversation at breakfast
Luc: You know, Mommy, there’s not just the Green Incredible Hulk.
Me: Oh?
Sophie: Well, yeah, there’s Grey Hulk.
Luc: No. No. Mommy. Mommy, [mischievous grin] there is also the RED Hulk.
Me: [eating toast] Red hulk?
Luc: Yes. Yes. FIRE Red Hulk. He can walk on lava.
Sophie: [Liking the sound of this] That’s right. He can walk on lava and he has fire on his body and he never gives up.
Me: Wow. I did not know that.
Luc: And, and, and there is also BLUE Hulk. Blue Hulk is really, really, really, really strong and he holds fishes, and he’s really nice.
Me: So he’s kind of a watery hulk?
Sophie: Yes. Water Hulk. And he can hold his breath and put his face under.
Luc: [on a roll now] Yes. And there’s WHITE Hulk.
Sophie: Oh, yeah, he’s really dangerous.
Me: Why is that?
Sophie: Because he can sneak up on you, without being seen, and tickle you, and blow around, and make you cold even in summer.
Luc: And, and, White Hulk can fly, too.
Me: Hang on, I want to write this down.
Luc: Okay. And write down about METAL Hulk.
Me: Metal Hulk?
Luc: Yes. Yes. He has screws on his body to protect himself. And if someone shoots him, he stays standing up.
Sophie: And there’s also YELLOW Hulk, right? He gives light and sunshine and his nose is shaped like this [makes cryptic motion on her face].
Luc: Yes, yes, and he has spiny spines down his back, and he has yellow eyes. And he’s yellow.
Me: This guy sounds pretty spooky.
Sophie: Yeah.
Luc: And there is MONEY Hulk.
Me: [laughing] Money Hulk?
Sophie: He has slots in his body that money comes out, and he wears a suit made out of money. And he lives in a bank.
Luc: No, Sophie. You can’t make a suit out of money.
Sophie: Yes you can. You just take a whole lot of money and you weave it together. [more cryptic hand motions]
Luc.: Oh.
Sophie: And there’s Orange Hulk! He doesn’t have feet. He has a long gloopy thing like a slug, and he has two fingers, and when he walks around this orange sludge comes out of him.
Luc: And he’s naked.
Sophie: Yes.
Luc: And there’s Black Hulk.
Me: Wait a minute. So how many hulks are there?
Luc: Well, Mom, [like this is totally obvious] there’s all the kinds of Hulks. All. That’s be cause they’re not extinct.
Me: Okay. All kinds. God it.
Sophie: Could you put some more jam on my toast?
Me: Absolutely.
ETA: see the original Hulk post, here.

"Dusi's Wings" April, 2003. . . .
"One thing fantasy can do for us is to give shape to the mysterious in the world; another is to make emotional yearning concrete. The early sections of "Dusi's Wings" do just that...there was a strong grasping towards the spiritual in fantasy here that was very promising, and I look forward to reading more by Lassiter." --review, Tangent Online.twitterage

I’m catching up on your blogs. Loved the completion of the house. Has Paul started his work? He will be happy when he puts his touch to it.
