building the tool shed (1 of 2)
I posted the other day about the nearly completed tool shed. It occurred to me it might be fun to go back and see it in progress.
Here it is, one year ago, December 27, 2007:
See that trench they’re digging? That’s it. Or the beginnings of the foundation, anyway.
Isn’t this the cutest work crew you have ever seen? The kids love that they have their own tools, sized for them, and they ADORE mud, so they were thrilled to get in there, and work with Daddy.
Two months later you can see the block foundation has been completed and the beams are going up. These timbers came from the pines cleared when we put up the yurt. Paul recommends Timber Framing for the Rest of Us by Rob Roy.
Paul can only work on building projects on the weekends, so progress can feel slow, especially to him, which can drive him crazy. Here he is, out on the roof in the rain, refusing to let a little weather keep him from doing his thing.
Okay. Jump ahead two more months to April. Look at all that green!
Roof is getting framed in. See him in the corner up there? What the heck is he doing?
It’s very important that the little people feel they can join in the process. Here is Luc in his impromptu sandbox, right behind the building site. He does his work, while Paul does his.
Stay tuned for part 2, cordwood, masonry, and more…

"Dusi's Wings" April, 2003. . . .
"One thing fantasy can do for us is to give shape to the mysterious in the world; another is to make emotional yearning concrete. The early sections of "Dusi's Wings" do just that...there was a strong grasping towards the spiritual in fantasy here that was very promising, and I look forward to reading more by Lassiter." --review, Tangent Online.tags
