Not that anyone but me cares, I realize.  Still, I can’t help reporting that I got my time capsule working, if I’m on my macbook, and I’m wireless. Wired, or, heaven forbid, on the desktop, it’s still broke.  But there is hope (yeah!) because at least now I have an idea why. Turns out my ooma broadband voip phone thingy (this box that sits on my desk and gives me unlimited long distance over the internet) was blocking large transmissions of data. Seems ooma was holding a torch for the old router and just wouldn’t speak to the time capsule–or let the time capsule to speak to anyone else, except is monosyllabic grunts. The latest apple guy knew how to adjust the Maximum Transmission Unit on the Mac, but not the Windows machine, so, I can be grateful, at least, that one of the buggers is up and running. Still, I haven’t had the heart to try again with Gateway, Apple, or the Ooma people to get this final fix fixed. Maybe later this week. And if that isn’t enough geek-speak to make your head blow up, I don’t know what is.
