inside outside guest house
My wonderful friend Priscilla is coming to visit today. I’m so excited! I haven’t seen her in person in four years. She’s staying for three days–long enough that putting her on the sofa just isn’t going to cut it. What to do? Where do you put a guest when you live in a glorified tent?
In a glorified guest tent, of course.
Paul dug around in his endless stash of junk–it’s like his super-power–and found this hexagonal screened in pavillion thingy (where does he get this stuff????) and we set it up in the woods. It was so spacious and nice, I thought, let’s go whole hog with this. So we waded into the scary depths of our storage shack and pulled out a maple bedframe, put a spare futon on it, added a antique burl veneer side table, a fur rug, and a double string of party lights and–blammo! a lovely guest house, for someone who likes all the comforts of home, only…outside.
I hope Priscialla likes frog sounds because we have lots and they are LOUD. Now, let’s just hope it doesn’t rain on her. Much. And do I tell her about the ticks? Or do I let her find out on her own?

"Dusi's Wings" April, 2003. . . .
"One thing fantasy can do for us is to give shape to the mysterious in the world; another is to make emotional yearning concrete. The early sections of "Dusi's Wings" do just that...there was a strong grasping towards the spiritual in fantasy here that was very promising, and I look forward to reading more by Lassiter." --review, Tangent Online.twitterage
